Kia Recalls Over 256,000 Souls For Steering Problem via CBS Philly

The recall covers certain Souls from the 2014 through 2016 model years.

DETROIT (AP) — Kia is recalling more than 256,000 Soul compactSUVs in the U.S. because the steering could fail.

The recall covers certain Souls from the 2014 through 2016 model years.

Kia says in documents filed with the government that the adhesive that holds steering gear parts together may not be strong enough and the parts can separate. That can cause loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

Kia found the problem after getting warranty reports from dealers. The company says no crashes or injuries have been reported. Dealers will inspect and replace a steering gear plug if necessary. They also will install a bolt for additional reinforcement. The recall is expected to start Dec. 22.

Kia Recalls 377,000 SUVs to Fix Shift Lever Problem « CBS DC

Kia is recalling more than 377,000 Sorento SUVs because the transmission can be shifted out of park when the driver’s foot isn’t on the brake.

The recall covers Sorentos from the 2011 through 2013 model years. Kia says in documents filed with U.S. safety regulators that the cars can roll away unexpectedly. The problem happens when the gear shift lever is pushed too hard, causing a part in the shifter to crack. It has caused three injuries.

Kia says it began investigating the trouble in August when it got a letter from a lawyer saying that a child moved a Sorento shift lever out of park and the SUV rolled, causing an injury.

Dealers will replace the brake-shift interlock mechanism withimproved parts. Owners will be notified starting Nov. 24.
